Frequently Asked Questions

We don’t do band-aid nutrition. We do soil-first strategy.

When do I use the product?

Seek closer attention to product labels for more detailed information/requirements.

For our Pasture product: In Autumn after rainfall event or after rainfall and the soil is damp

For our cereals product: Spray on soil surface at planting or prior to incorporation or 12 weeks after germination. When injecting, it is recommended that this product is not placed too close to the seed.

Why are the products primary production specific?

Different production types, like pasture, cereals, and horticulture, have unique trace mineral needs. Each crop or system draws on the soil differently, so the right blend depends on what you’re growing. If you’re unsure which product fits your setup, reach out, we’re here to help.

What should I expect when using the product?

Expect measurable improvements, stronger wool, faster growth, and increased milk production. For example, an underlying zinc deficiency can quietly reduce milk yield by up to 20%, without obvious symptoms. In sheep, dry skin on the face might show up in just 1 in 50 animals, making deficiencies easy to miss but costly over time.
If you’re relying on stock licks season after season, it’s a sign your system needs a smarter, more targeted solution. That’s where our products come in.

What is your return policy?

Stock Roots is under no obligation to accept returns for stock damaged on your premises. Goods may be returned if the quality of the product or packaging is not to the agreed standard and replacement product will be issued. Credit will not be issued for partially used stock. Request for returns must be made within 7 days of receipt of goods accompanied with a photograph of the reason for return.

Are the ingredients environmentally friendly?

Yes. Our active ingredients are entirely plant-based and mineral-derived, no synthetic fillers, no compromises. We believe environmental responsibility goes hand-in-hand with product performance.
Why? Because the growing window is short, and timing is everything. Fast-acting, bioavailable ingredients ensure your system responds immediately when the rain hits, maximising seasonal potential without leaving a footprint.

Why do the products have different colours?

Each product, whether for pasture, horticulture, or cropping, has a distinct colour that reflects its unique mineral blend. These differences help match the specific nutrient needs of each production type.
You might also notice slight colour variations between batches of the same product. That’s normal. It’s caused by minerals shifting oxidation states, there are over 70 possible states, and each can affect colour. Rather than a defect, it’s a sign the minerals are active and bioavailable, not inert. In short, colour variation means the product is working.

What are the payment options?

Credit card and PayPal online or visit your local farm supply store who stock our products.

When is the best time to apply Stock Roots products on pasture?

Apply in the early morning or late afternoon when temperatures are cooler and evaporation is low. Avoid spraying during peak heat, especially if the forecast hits above 30°C. Timing matters: cooler conditions help nutrients stay on the leaf longer, improving uptake and overall effectiveness.

How frequent do I use it?

For our Pasture product: One or two applications each year
For our Horticulture product: Two applications each year (for trees and vines)
For our Cereals product: One application per crop

Can I spray the Stock Roots pasture products on newly planted soils?

It’s best to apply Stock Roots pasture products on established pastures or on the soil surface before newly sown pasture germinates. For best results on newly germinated pastures wait until 12 weeks old.

The following are reasons why you should NOT use this product with pastures containing salvation jane and/or heliotrope.

The plant salvation jane and the herb heliotrope contain an alkaloid which interferes with livestock’s ability to process normal copper levels. This botanical can cause fetlock joint issues and paralysis in ruminants, as well as lameness in horses. Our Stock Roots pasture products should not be applied to pastures with salvation jane and/or heliotrope as there is a potential to exacerbate the impacts these weeds have on livestock.

What are trace minerals in agriculture?

Trace minerals are naturally occurring elements, like zinc, copper, and manganese, that plants need in small amounts but with big impact. Think of them as the spark plugs of plant growth: they ignite key processes like photosynthesis, nutrient transfer, and antioxidant production.
Found in soil, water, and air, these minerals act as catalysts, helping plants convert energy, build structure, and respond to stress. Without them, growth stalls and potential is lost.

What is a chelator?

A chelator is a compound that binds to trace minerals, keeping them in an active, usable state. This boosts their availability to plants and soil microbes, making sure they’re absorbed efficiently, not lost to the environment.
Chelators help minerals move through plant systems, support nutrient uptake, and even act as antioxidants. We use only food-grade chelators in our products to ensure safety, effectiveness, and fast action in the field.

How should the cereals product be injected into the soil and where is the recommended location for injection?

It is recommended to inject the cereal product adjacent to the seed, rather than with the seed. However, it is important to avoid placing the product too close to the seed.

Can the Stock Roots Cereal product be used as a foliar spray?

Absolutely. Stock Roots Cereals can be applied as a foliar spray for targeted nutrient delivery. For best results, spray at 12 weeks after germination.

Application rate: Max 2.5 litres per hectare

Frequency: Every 4 weeks

This method supports rapid uptake and can help correct deficiencies during critical growth stages.

Can Stock Roots help reduce my reliance on traditional supplements?

Yes. By treating the soil directly, Stock Roots helps restore natural nutrient cycles, reducing the need for mineral blocks, licks, or synthetic additives. It’s a proactive approach that supports both pasture health and animal performance.
